Always enjoy a meal from here. I had an oxtail meal with rice and peas, plenty of gravy and a chicken patty. Friendly staff and good variety of food. Many reviews mention the queue but i think it just gives you plenty of time to decide what to order and moves quick enough. Allergen information available near the till. Good value.

I never put on reviews , but that place the food was excellent! Got some shrimp rice saffron , curry chicken which taste exactly like my grandma use to make , fall off the bones even my grandma with no teeth can eat that as tender at it was! Potato salad was very good bring me back to my island vibe The portion was very good after finishing that meal i could just lay down and have a nap around the field , i dont think you can walk much after such a meal it deserve its own nap time. The patties aswell was very good specially the saltfish patty. No matter what. people got to try this place if you looking for some good food experience and satisfy your soul , no matter your skin color or so, their food is just sharing love and taste One love !

A Hackney gem — and one of the best Caribbean restaurants I’ve ever been to I discovered Peppers and Spice about five or six years ago, and it has never once let me down. Having grown up in South London and lived in Hackney for 15 years, I know good food and this place is something special. There’s sometimes an unspoken intimidation around certain Caribbean restaurants, but Peppers and Spice has none of that. From the moment you walk in, the warmth is genuine. The staff are friendly, efficient, and professional with every single customer no favouritism, no cliques. And you can feel it in the atmosphere too; the other customers tend to reflect that same warmth back. Whether that’s an East London thing or simply the tone this place sets, I’m not sure, but it works beautifully. The food is consistently delicious and always tastes fresh I genuinely don’t know how they maintain that standard, but they do. Portions are generous, the menu is regularly updated and refreshed, and the restaurant itself is immaculate. They redecorated recently and it looks wonderful. This is a place that clearly takes pride in every detail. This morning I treated myself I went in intending to get saltfish and ackee with dumplings, and came out having also tried the steamed fish stew with cabbage, plus some plantain. Everything was outstanding, and the whole lot came to £20. That is exceptional value. Peppers and Spice is a true treasure of Dalston. Customer service is 100 out of 10. Highest possible recommendation.

This is really good, proper portions n all. Probably the best Carribbean place I've been, always a queue (fast moving) and well known locally and beyond. We used to come here from Cally Rd years ago as we knew it would we the best.

A staple for over 20 years. Old enough to review now. Great food and drink. Also pleasant staff. Get a callaloo patty when you're there. As a pescaterian, I always get one or two in addition to my food when I'm there. The food is consistently good.

Went here for lunch The girl that served me was so nice — all the staff are really friendly seems they enjoy working there. It’s my third time going, and I love it every time. I got their stew and rice, and it was really good — full of that real Jamaican flavour. Feels like a little taste of Jamaica right dessooo. Prices are good for what you get .

Well if you are ever in Dalston in fact even if you are not, this place is definitely worth a visit. It’s literally one of the best and most authentic Caribbean takeaway you will ever find. This place used to be on the main road but for whatever reason it moved onto balls pond road just by the junction. I can’t tell you enough how good the food is. It’s one of the few takeaways that you will be standing in the queue in the street on a daily basis alongside every type of race of people who simply just want the food. On this visit I bought a fried dumpling and fried fish along with three patties. One vegetarian, one salt fish, and one chicken. No words needed on the quality I’ve literally been buying food from these people for over twenty years and it only gets better. The staff are always rushed off their feet never a moment to chat because the customers are endless. On this visit I just stood outside and looked at the verify of people who waited in line for their turn. From a middle aged Caribbean man to a teenager with her mother and then a young English guy alongside a middle aged English guy to a construction worker. Truly amazing to see the appeal. I really recommend this place for the quality of food and the speed of service and most of all the value for money.

I went there this past week, and I absolutely LOVED the service, especially with one of their workers, I believed is named Mercy. I absolutely loved Mercy, she was so helpful and patient with me. She's everything that makes an excellent worker, and I'll definitely be back for some more food!!
